I was born 8/32 in CT and lived in NJ until going to Colgate University. After graduation I served 28 years in USAF as a navigator bombardier in B-47s and B-52s, and as a staff officer. Since then I am doing volunteer work with two veterans groups, the League of Women Voters , Santa Maria Men’s Club and county central committee. I have three sons and five grandchildren. Unfortunately I lost my wife Pachy in 2010.

I was born at an early age in the Santa Clara Valley.  I picked prunes and cut “cots” as a kit to earn money and started to work “officially”  in 1946 at the age of 16 in a hardware store in Santa Clara.

I’ve spent most of my life working in hardware stores or lumber yards, retiring in 2000 after a stint as a traveling salesman selling fasteners (nails, nuts, bolts, screws, washers, etc.)

Most of my career was spent working for Applied Magnetics, an electronics manufacturer, in Goleta.  I worked my way up from stocking shelves to managing a staff of 35 people.  It was a good company to work for and a far cry from the coal mines in rural Kentucky where my father lost his life.

I grew up in Omaha Nebraska and graduated from University of Nebr. in 1963, BS in Mechanical Engineering.   I moved to Downey California where I worked for North American, Rockwell Aerospace doing design work on the Apollo space craft crew module. In 1966 I began working for Lockheed Aircraft Co. doing aircraft structural analysis and was there until retiring in 1996. After retiring from Lockheed I did consulting work converting or modifying Boeing airplanes.

My wife Judy and I have two children, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

I have been a member of the Men’s club since 2010.

Hobbies and interests are gardening, wood working, and flying my 1973 Cessna 182.

I was raised with 5 siblings in Oak Lawn, Illinois and relocated to Southern California in my early 20’s.  Since then I’ve been in sales and marketing for both manufacturing and the financial industry.  In the mid 90’s I moved to the central coast, where I currently reside with my wife, Lynn.

Personal hobbies and interests are hiking, biking, reading/research, graphics, and volunteering with secular and Christian groups for encouragement, health and healing intervention.
